Kurt previously worked for the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse [PLSG], where he was an Associate involved with a large number of early stage life science companies. Kurt’s duties at the PLSG included financial modeling and forecasting, market analysis, strategy and fundraising in connection with 15 different life science companies.
Prior to working at the PLSG, Kurt was Lead Research Associate at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School’s Department of Neurology & Positron Emission Tomography [PET] Facility. He was directed by Dr. Nicolaas Bohnen, now at the University of Michigan, and conducted Dr. Bohnen’s research into Parkinson’s Disease, White Matter Disease, and other neuro-degerative disorders.
Before working at the University of Pittsburgh, Kurt did functional MRI [fMRI] research at Carnegie Mellon University in the Center for Cognitive Brain Imaging [CCBI] headed by Dr. Marcel Just. A significant amount of research conducted at the CCBI is focused on brain mapping of high level cognitive processses.
Kurt has a BS in Neuroscience from Pennsylvania State University, and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business. He is currently in the process of qualifying as a Chartered Financial Analyst [CFA].
