Matt Bootman brings over 20 years of experience to iNetworks with a primary focus on medical devices and biomaterials. Matt holds nine patents that cover medical devices, biomaterials, cosmetic formulations and manufacturing processes. Other areas of expertise include tissue engineering, drug delivery and textile processing.

During his career Matt has developed new products and technologies, moved them from the laboratory through pilot phase and into manufacturing and developed new manufacturing processes. In moving these products to market he also gained experience in forming strategic alliances and managing joint ventures in both start-up and large international organizations. Matt’s abilities in evaluating new products and technologies stem from this start-to-finish experience.

Matt’s academic experience was in the field of cell biology. His research focused on membrane transport in cancer cells and his Masters thesis was published in the respected journal Biochimica et Biophysica Acta. He entered industry as a Biomedical Engineer for Baxter Healthcare. His work there resulted in two new medical device products and four patents. He then moved on to the start-up company Vitaphore Corporation, where he developed the technology for BioPatch™, a drug-delivery device that is a standard of care for catheter-related infection control in hospitals.

Matt was instrumental in developing Tecothane™, a medical polyurethane polymer, for Thermedics, Inc. He developed novel tissue engineering products during his tenure at Albany International, where he diversified and expanded Albany’s business into the medical device field. Matt then co-founded Transome, Inc., which manufactures custom sutures and tissue engineering scaffolds for research and orthopedic use.

Matt holds BA and MA degrees in Cell Physiology from the University of California Santa Barbara. Matt is also a co-founder and principal in the Pittsburgh consulting firm Socius Partners, LLC.
